Dinner @ Twenty15 RGB

Dinner Place last night

A visual representation of the wheelchair lift, I personally find that it is a good initiative.
What set it apart for me was the welcoming and inclusive vibe that I experienced last night. Though there was a flight of stairs that may have deterred wheelchair users but they was always solutions put in place with the help of a wheelchair lift to help me get up there to enjoy my meal, just like any other patrons. In my opinion, this action alone have already added brownie points to this restaurant.

This place was a little hidden gem and I guess not many know of this place as it is tucked in one corner at BigBox. We went there to celebrate my parents 5th year anniversary :)

Beer- Battered Fish, Fries, Mixed Green Salad & Tartar Sauce

It was a pretty decent and reasonable meal and I really enjoyed my Classic Fish n Chips ($18) very much. People who knew me well know I loved my Fish N Chips and I take it very seriously. In my opinion, it was one of the best. First, the batter wasn't too thick nor floury and the fish was fresh, tender and soft. Only thing I think they would have done better, is having some extra dips that enhanced the flavor or having the option to customise my sides (LOL) All in all, it was a Fish N Chips I enjoyed compared to somewhere I ate in Orchard Rd.

Pumpkin Mashed Potato, Sauteed Vegetables

Next up was my mom mains. It was Lamb Shank Stew ($26). I think it was pretty good, judging that my mom finished it. But this does looks good on its own, don't you think so? It was tender and juicy but if you hate the smell of lamb, don't try it. But my mom kept saying eating lamb meat, keeps one warm and kept asking me to eat (LOL)

Spicy Pork Sausage Aglio Olio
(Pic Credit: Twenty15 RGB site)
Next up was my papa's mains, Spicy Pork Sausage Aglio Olio Style ($18). I had a taste of that and it was quite spicy for me but the spaghetti was done al-dente style which had quite a nice texture and the meat wasn't that tough either but it was a bit too spicy if I would to eat it on my own. Shan't comment too much because my one mouthful won't provide a accurate recount. But all opinions are my own, taste it for yourself to see if you liked it.

Carnaroli RIce, Parmesan Cheese, Truffle Paste

Next up, and the final mains of the night was my sister's Chicken Risotto ($18). I had a go at it and it was my first time trying it and I would say taste wise it was kinda nice but got cloyed after a while because the strong parmesan cheese and the hint of truffle kinda made the dish a little one dimensional. Maybe, they could add some chili flakes or some sauces to complement it. However, the texture was pretty good, but I had no basis to compare it to but was decent.

Complimentary Bread and Butter
Drinks to end the night

Drinks was all right, My mom and I had the Twenty15 Delight ($7) - which consists of some cranberry juice, soda and I forgot what. My sister had the Fruit Punch and my papa had the Passionfruit Cooler. No alcoholic drinks for the night. But they have some great deals for their beers or wines which are great to enjoy with a group to go with some bar food.

In conclusion, I think this is a great place to chill, have dinner and maybe lunch, because their set lunches looks worth it. This place can really be a place for chilling, celebration, meeting... and the list goes on. Although, my sister mentions the song playlist can be improved but I actually find it okay for one who does not listens to songs often (at least there was no continuous loop of Ed Sheeran songs, LOL)

If you are looking for a place for a group, to chill, have some beer/bar food in the west, you could presumably come here.

Address:  Venture Avenue,
#01-13 Big Box, 608521

Taste: 3/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Inclusivity Value: Brownie Pts

Once again, I would like to wish my parents a Happy 5th Anniversary, Cheers!

Jam Packed Day

3 January 2018

It was really an adventurous start to my life. Consecutive days of going out have not happened to me before so I am really grateful to experience this. It was kind of tiring but very satisfying as well. Loved that my buddy was able to bring me around although it was very tough getting to push me here and there on a packed schedule...

So here goes...

We first started with going back to office and it was my first ever time taking the bus to my office and lucky I was feeling all good in the bus :) In the bus, I was kind of worried about the work I was due to do but haven't yet finished but luckily all was good. It was also the first time I brought work to the office to do and working in office is definitely a good experience as I was more motivated to complete my work. However, I knew that long-term going to the office to work will take a toll on my health and that is not what I want! But still, it was a very good experience! And occassionally, such experience is good and will look forward to it!

At around 4.15pm, we were sent to run errands and we had to go the DBS Building in Marina Boulevard and it was again my first time going around that place. And, just for commemorative purposes, we took a photo there :) We then proceed to Mos Burger because my bud was craving for it, but I got to snag her corn soup which warmed up my soul (LOL)

3rd Step - Take the Downtown Line to Bencoolen It was again my first time taking a train in the Downtown Line of the MRT. It reminded me of the times I took the North East Line which goes from Outram to Hougang. During that time, we have to go to my grandma house every Saturday but we enjoyed it because it was a safe haven for us at that time. Okay, I digress, back to the Downtown Line.

It was only a few stops from Downtown Station to Bencoolen but I sort of enjoy the vibes of being in an MRT except that next time if I would to take it, I am extremely afraid of the gaps which will eat up my wheels if one aren't careful. But most important thing is to get stronger which I am at it. Okay, I digress again.

One thing I noticed was that the DTL exits was kinda confusing for a wheelchair user, because not all exits have lifts and we had to figure out which had one and to head for it. Took many 冤枉路 but along the way, we saw the essence for CBD workers, keke!

We reached our destination on the dot, and I was kinda scared of the cargo lift that got us up to our destination, but luckily, my bud was with me.

Once, we got there, there was another hurdle which was a step up. The first impression was of course a very cosy and homely community feel! The chief welcomed us and I began my consultation while my bud went for her workout session. It was a really cozy vibe and the chief asked me a number of questions, from goals to my physical strength and condition. He was positive that my goals were achievable and doable as long as there is determination to continue. However, there was still another aspects before I got to start class proper - Getting approval from my doctor and some scan reports and I'm good to go!

After the consultation, I went to sit-in for a observation of how the classes were conducted. It was indeed the "Super Chill Workouts" which piqued my interest, and went to their website to read their story which was a motivating factor why I decided to arrange for a consultation. It is amazing to see how they relied on a referral by words of mouth which interestingly enough, was refreshing and really shows the power of that. Really look forward to ma first session there :)

It was pretty intriguing to find out for myself if it was really chill workouts but indeed it was. Go to their website to find out more - The Brave Shapes. Co

Before you knew it, you will be signing up for a session and be working through your goals in a chill setting to help you reach whatever goals you want without sacrificing your diet!

4th Stop - Dinner

After that, we proceeded to dinner and walking around the vicinity and went to look-see, look-see in National Design Centre.

Random Photo in NDC
After that, we went to have dinner which was at...... *Drum Rolls*
Champion Ramen - Oh my, their ramen are my current favorites.

Some sense of Familiarity after visiting it in T3
The Special Tonkatsu Ramen

Special Tonkatsu/Pink Ramen ($15.90) was as usual the bomb for me as its soup broth was the star here. The beetroot and blueberries gave it its pink hues which looks pretty but dude, I don't taste the hint of blueberries though. But, it was really nice as the ramen and egg will cooked to perfect standards and the broth was creamy and smooth which twirled in my mouth and really loved slurping up the soup everytime I ate. It was just so good... for now... till I find one that overrides it. After the full and satisfying dinner, we rubbed our bellies with delight but we decided to go a step further by going for desserts for Traditional Tau Hway. Afterall, what is the best end to a meal - Desserts!

Last Stop - Desserts

This really was the highlight of the day as we travelled far and wide to get it but I should opted for sweeter version plus I was too full to finish it but I enjoyed the vibes and ambience and company very much and it was a good end to an otherwise good day, which it had been a long time I haven't had such a happening day!

跋山涉水 to get this tau hway lol!

Desserts - TADAH

Last Stop - HOME SWEET HOME

It was pretty late by the time we were done with desserts and we decided to uber home. All in all, I really enjoyed this kind of jam packed schedule once in awhile and it is refreshingly good and more things to look forward in the future.

More adventures in 2018, and my blog will be updated more often, haha! Bye and have a good week ahead!

(Note: I have 3 appointments this month, which made it a super sian month of doctor appointment, but hey, look on the bright side :) )

Start the New Year With a Bang!!!

Year 2017 have passed by swiftly, in the blink of an eye! 2017 have been good but I hope 2018 will be even better!

2 January 2017
It started with a Company Overview Cum Self Care Reflection Session + KTV Session! I reached ACE office punctually at 10am and we proceeded to gather together with our food items. As I only brought 2 packets of Milo Biscuits, I was still afraid that it will seem pathetic lol. So, we started the session with drinking tea which our boss lovingly made from Hush Teabar. It had a nice touch of fruity flavour and balanced flavours.

We ate and drank tea and started our session proper with exercises of the 3Rs - Review, Reflect and Release. Really had a good time pondering about the questions and using this time to reflect and be thankful to not others around us but also to ourselves for braving 2017 with will and grit. The answers to this questions allows us to think critically and objectively. Overall, it was a great exercise for self to reflect about the year in greater detail.

(It was also a great eating session as we get to eat breakfast cooked by FY)

Sharing our thoughts...
After the questions were done, we had lunch at Timbre+, which I regretted eating Fishball Kway Tiao but oh well, my dinner time made up for that. We then proceeded to meeting room to have some more team thinking and CaptionCube Strategy plan for 2018. I was feeling so sleepy because it's been so long I have been listening in to lessons since Secondary School. Furthermore, I think the zzz monster crept up after our lunch but we did have a good session as we shared ideas and thinkings with everyone. I do reaffirm that it is important to have understanding among colleagues and help one another as we walked forward in 2018. I will do my best in work though my Carpal Tunnel will crept up but it can be better managed with discipline and rest when needed.

After about 2 hours, we will done with strategy thinking and off we go for our next activity - KTV!
However, the weather wasn't cooperating and it was still drizzling when we were about to leave the office to go Star Vista.

But overall, I had a good time and a nice experience. And moreover, I actually decided not to sing at all but managed to sing a total of 5 songs which was a feat for me I guess. I seems to be reserving all my firsts for CaptionCube and all my colleagues hehe... So, it was my first time really singing in a KTV. It seems like a momentum because after singing the first song, I felt like singing the 2nd...3rd and 4th....

Just to record here, the songs I sang were:
  • 小酒窝 by JJ Lin
  • 25 Minutes by Micheal Learns To Rock
  • 宁静 by Fish Leong
  • 童话 by 光良
  • and
  • 朋友 by 周华健
I dedicated the last song to my colleagues/friends!! It was very liberating to sing but I sang all the oldies man and I do feel so old but so good...!

KTV time passes by in the blink of an eye.

Some shots we taken as a team...
To commemorate...

Singing our hearts out...

After that, I went for dinner with my buddy cum colleague!! We went to walk around Star Vista before we went for dinner, because I haven't been to this part of Singapore lol! Thanks Feng Yi for pushing me around to look around. I was craving for Unagi Bento boxes but no restaurant was having it. In the end, we settled for OMOOMODON which is a Korean Fusion Food store because they offer grilled eel which I have been wanting to eat.

However, yo my disappointment, the grilled eel was sold out, so I settled for salmon instead. We opted for the Build our own don meal, which I added Korean White rice, Grilled Salmon, Kimchi Omelette and Teriyaki Sauce. Very Filling and yummy dinner I will say but still a bit disappointed I did not get to eat my unagi, keke!

Spongebobs and his pet snail.
While waiting around the mall, I went in to Jmart and got a packet of ramen (For FY to cook for me when I going her house) and a packet of seaweed instant soup which I loved the other time my mom got it from Isetan :) Wow, Japanese Foods do not come cheap but they are so good and to die for, haha! I also got a packet of Salted Egg Crisps from Golden Duck which was yummy and addictive. Only thing, it is too thin but I enjoyed the symphony of the Salted egg, Curry leaves and chili flakes.

I have not tried the ones at irvins but there were always out of stock. Wanted to buy one to try at Shopee but was skeptical of the authenticity
My Salmon Don :)

So true... Treasure your life!
:) So, what are u waiting for?
Who do you think is stupider?
Oops...

All in all, it was a great day out and we had a deep thinking session and we think deeply as well as have fun together as a team! More again next year. Will be back again with another adventure as soon as I organised my thoughts and draft out the next post. Till again! <3 ciao!

Journey To The East - Changi Airport T3

Guess where are we going? Heyo, Gotcha!

I have never been to this terminal but I was super excited to embark on this journey with my friends! Oh my, why do I sound like a tourist?! Okay, are you ready to go on this journey with me? Super exciting for me, but may be too bored for y'all!

First Stop: Lunch @ Champion Ramen

Ramen Fans Rejoice, we are having ramen for lunch!

I did some research before we came here so it will be easier for my friends to order it for me. So my trusty food compass told me to head for the Tonkotsu Ramen if you are trying a ramen store for the first time.
Tonkotsu Ramen by Ikkyu

Tonkotsu Ramen $15.80 was so good for me. And, it is definitely my kind of comfort food! The broth was flavorful and the chashu so well cooked, sous vide style. So good that I finished all the meat as it was so tender and flavorful (I'm usually not a meat person).

Soup was robust and not too salty. Close fight with Ipuudo's one, if only they can open one outlet in Jurong, I will be there to eat every month. The ramen I ate that day was one of the best and I totally wanna slurp up the soup. Serving was good and the ajitama egg was good too :)

So good, I have to take a pic with my ramen :)

My friend's Ramen and the Kani Salad that was good too!

When we were done with our food, my tummy was so satisfied but so full. Burp...! We proceeded to our next stop.

Second Stop: Sanrio Exhibition

We initially decided to catch the show as the main attraction for that day. But to our dismay, the sort of light show lasted only about 5 mins?! Instead, we went around the venue to take pics which was great too. My friends were so patient to help me take pics and position me.
The show consisted of snow falling and let's pose for a photo.

Pom Pom Purin
One of my fav characters - Little Twin Stars

Gudetama - So Kawaii, I cannot... I also want to nua...
My Most Favourite - My Melody :)

Third Stop - Hello Kitty Orchid Cafe

Fun Fact: The Mascot in the cafe for SG are the only one with double bows.

As we had a really full lunch, we came here for tea time :) The atmosphere and ambience is great, it really seems like tai tai life but I would choose ramen anytime over that, no offence!

Itadakimasu
Winking Kitty and Sweet Kitty all ready for Christmas!

Fourth Step - Shopping

Went to buy some goodies back like a real Singaporean, so as to commemorate the outing. Bought some chocolates and wafers and Candy also passed me some oatmeal cookies which were yum!

Then it was time to part ways and Home Sweet Home! Really enjoyed this outing to the East and more of such adventures with Mx-jie and Candy :) Thanks for bringing me out for an advanced Christmas outing. Bye, ciao! Will return with another adventure and maybe 2018 resolutions.

Ending the post with favourite My Melody Plush Doll that was bought for me :) Thanks, it is so huggable and just the right size.

My Melody!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

Love,

Virgin Trip to USS

*Excited!!!* Let me record my 1st trip to USS since it is pretty memorable! Who would have thought that I am 25 and yet I have not stepped into USS before? Ok here goes...

Background story

Let's recap. The reason I got to go to USS was because of a challenge named #SignItForwardChallenge which is to film a video signing 'Celebrate abilities, Embrace inclusiveness'. I decided to do it when I was asked from my boss to do it, because I find it so meaningful and that everyone should be treasured regardless of our disabilities. (Watch the video here) So, I jio-ed a colleague/friend to join me. The video was filmed and posted and I totally did not expect it to garner so many likes, which won us the tickets. I was so happy and relieved to see so many supporting the cause of inclusivity. I was even more shocked when my boss decided to give all 4 tickets to me so that I could go with my family. Thanks ComChest for this opportunity and my #CaptionCube family for the chance. I had fun and think that the event is very meaningful for beneficiaries to come together as one. Have fun, and at the same time participate in inclusive and interactive games and activities like the Jenga Blocks and the 'Guess and Win'.

18th February 2017: Charity in the Park

First Station

Let me record this when my memory is still fresh! We set off for USS at exactly 6pm and we only reached at around 7pm+ because we lost our way *laughs* because the route was kinda confusing but that is not the point. We went to the reception and collected our tickets and off we go to have fun! Our First stop was Sesame Street: Spaghetti Space Change. Its location is at the New York section of USS. For this ride, I am initially worried that I may not be able to move to the seat because the ride was always in motion. However, I was mistaken as it stopped for a few minutes and I was able to stand and make my way in and it was full of satisfaction and I totally enjoyed the ride. The moment when I successfully stepped in and make myself comfortable was unbelievable but I did it!

(My Sis and I in the Sesame Street Ride)

(Smile =))

(Really feel like I'm transported back to childhood times)

Next Station
Second stop, we went to the 'Lights, Camera, Action' hosted by Steven Spielberg. It is located at the New York Section of USS. Its visual effects were superb and I really enjoyed but waiting time was a bit too long and yet I did not get to enjoy the full effects. It was for some safety reasons that I cannot move beyond a certain distance. But nevertheless it was a good experience.

Next Station
Next Stop, we went to the Madagascar: A Crate adventure rides which is located in the Madagascar section of USS. This is the ride which its wait was the longest, partly because we were waiting for the safety boat. At first, I was quite worried of not being able to take this ride but was reassured by the staff that I need not worry. They is a boat dedicated to taking passengers with wheelchair and I am so happy, I got to hop on! Yay!

(Up on the boat and ready to go!!)

The Last Station
The last station that I was able to participate was the Shrek 4-D Adventure which I enjoyed the most because it was really interesting and I was captivated by the effects! I was also glad that I managed to climb up the chair to enjoy the whole experience and it was really unforgettable experience as the seats moved, and the donkey sneezed. *laughs*

(Smile =3)

The Fun goes on for the rest... Thrilling Rides up Next

Next, we proceed to the Revenge of the Mummy ride which is located in the Ancient Egypt of USS. My younger sister enjoyed the ride compared to the previous times she had taken the ride.

The last ride of the day is Battlestar Galactica: Human VS Cylon!
My sister enjoyed this the most because she says it is the most thrilling ride of the night!

Conclusion/Afterthoughts

(Pic Credit: Comchest SG FB page)

Overall, it was definitely a meaningful initiative and event that build awareness, outreach and impact in their unique ways. Quoting my company at CaptionCube, "we believe in supporting where we can. As we come together, we build a stronger ecosystem that supports one another and create more impact." As long as people work together as a community to build a more inclusive society.

I really enjoyed myself albeit the rides I could take were limited plus I wished I could spend more time there, but i am already contented being able to experience the fun. I hoped my sisters and brother-in-law enjoyed the event and rides as much as me! It was a memorable experience indeed. :) I also wished I could take part in more meaningful community events. In the future, I hoped I am able to go to such events with my motorized wheelchair and interact more with the people.

Thanks for going with me and not letting me regret the chance given by my fellow colleagues. Of course, thanks to Community Chest for having us and my fellow CaptionCube friends for giving me the chance. Grateful and thankful indeed!

So, Together, Let's build a warm and inclusive society one step at a time! Cheers! Till next time! Ciao!
